thanks DANMay 11, 2013 at 8:20 am #860fritzMemberHi Dan,
I have my Alter II (a swb station wagon) insured with Adrian Flux on a 5000 mile a year policy, parked on the driveway for a few hundred notes I seem to remember.. I also tried NFU and one other that knew what the vehicle was but wanted almost a grand.
I have another two specialist cars insured with Adrian Flux and would recommend them, always found a good service and quick at responding to questions.
Where abouts are you based? There is another UMMbulance in devon that is converted to a rather smart camper.
May 11, 2013 at 8:46 am #861fritzMemberps. it’ll be well worth your while joining the club. You get a quarterly magazine, entry via this site to all the factory manuals and parts lists/diagrams, lists of alternative parts/sources and alot of scans of the old club magazines which are full of useful technical articles – someone has always modified or fixed the bit you are thinking about.. very helpful!!
May 11, 2013 at 8:41 pm #862AnonymousInactivethank you i will join and thats helpful,my umm started stalling up hill after 40 miles on even gentle gradients on tarmac in 2wd and was slow and sluggish but seeing as it was on empty when i picked it up and standing i’ll start with fuel fiters,.
May 12, 2013 at 8:18 am #863fritzMemberyep sounds a good bet! That and check the lines aren’t perished?
May 12, 2013 at 10:41 am #864AnonymousInactivethanks fritz, adrian flux so far are the only outfit that have even heard of Umms,i’m getting quite used to hearing” umm what?” at the end of each enquiry.i’m based in east sussex.the history of this one is sj johns as only previous owner based in surrey.36,000miles but its been left standing alot by the looks of, chassis rusty but passed last mot on advisory, rusty leaf springs, fuel lines replaced (apparently) but i’m already finding mot parts seem to be peugeot; 504 ,j5,j9 i’m compatible.this one is 2.5td 1992 lwb demountable body.i’m just hoping turbo hasn’t gone.i’ll get it into a garage after weekend.driving in second gear wasn’t my plan for it’s future.
thanks again for help, looking forward to reading the manuals. 😉May 13, 2013 at 8:52 pm #865JohnKeymasterTry the NFU … The National Farmers Union…. I had one of mine insured through them for a few years when it was on the road.
May 15, 2013 at 11:32 am #866AnonymousInactiveAdrian flux £186 for the year fully comp 3000 mileage, inc full eu and uk unlimited breakdown recovery. That’ll do nicely.

May 22, 2013 at 7:57 am #868AnonymousInactiveWHAT IS THE ENGINE IN UMM ALTER II ,ok it seems i bought an umm with a leaking head gasket, pitson rings are now knackered so engine rebuild needed,BUT what is the engine model i know its peugeot 2.5 td but what is it compatible with not 405 i guess as they are 1.9td not 2.5’s, can anyone please help engine can’t fine engine number on block anywhere.
thanks danMay 25, 2013 at 4:44 pm #870fritzMemberPeugeot (XD3TE) 2.5 Turbo Intercooled Diesel, as fitted to the 504 GTD Saloon – although I believe there are quite a few differences, sump etc between the two so probably best to rebuild yours?
If stuck I think Tom Ashworth still has an engine for sale and a rebuilt head – his contact details are on the front page of the website in the treasure trove bit…
Have you joined the club? Graham is a wealth of knowledge.
Good luck, it’ll be worth it!
